About Brian Johnston
Bio
Brian Johnston, author and speaker, film producer; is a public intellectual who hosts a syndicated, national radio program and podcast. Widely experienced in public policy and communications, he is an entertaining and frequently interviewed raconteur.
Brian has been actively involved in non-profit administration; local, state and federal elections, as well as being an effectively insightful policy advocate.
Based primarily in Sacramento, Brian has worked closely with legislators across the globe on behalf of the unborn, the senior community and the medically vulnerable. He has testified and worked on legislation in numerous state capitols, focusing on the Mountain and Pacific states, as well as in Washington, D.C., and the national legislatures of New Zealand, Australia and Belgium and South Africa.
A dual-national (US/Ireland), he also has other, extensive international experience.
Brian is also a Shakespearean actor and scholar. A SAG-AFTRA member, using an old family name (see see Keenan Johnston on IMDB), he is available to speak on the Power of the English Language; Why the Bard of Avon Still Haunts Your Thoughts; Stories and Story Telling.
Since March 2009, Brian has served as the Director of the Life Fest Film Festival based in Hollywood, California. The festival program creates a unique platform dedicated to showcasing films that affirm the importance of the human experience and celebrate the value of every life, particularly the seemingly insignificant life. The festival has gained global recognition and hosts the prestigious Spirit of Capra Awards annually, attracting filmmakers and film enthusiasts worldwide.
From 1985 through 2023 Brian worked as the Western Regional Director for the National Right to Life Committee. In this role, he successfully coordinated policy and grassroots development with state affiliates in the Mountain and Pacific regions while also serving as a legislative and media representative. Brian’s commitment to protecting the rights of the unborn and advocating for pro-life values has been unwavering throughout his career.
Brian has been actively involved in various national and state policy boards and committees. He served as California Commissioner on Aging, (1996-2000); as a member of California’s Board of Examiners of Nursing Homes from 1996 to 2001, contributing to the oversight of all Nursing Home Administrators in the state; on the Board of Directors of the National Legal Center for the Medically Dependent and Disabled. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors of the National Right to Life Committee.
